To meet the requirements of the Law of UkraineOn Permitting Activities Regarding Nuclear Energy Use”, on February 20, 2013, SSE ChNPP has obtained a license of the State Nuclear Regulation Inspectorate of Ukraine to perform activity “Construction and Commissioning of Nuclear Facility (Interim Storage Facility for Spent Nuclear Fuel ISF-2)” valid till February 20, 2018.
License
No. ЕО 001002 was obtained instead of available one and enables to commence the second stage of activities, including supply of materials and equipment, construction and assembling works and precommissioning operations, as well as support to obtain a permit for ISF-2 commissioning. Completion of active phase of the contract activities is scheduled for 2015.

For reference: ISF-2 facility is designed for acceptance, preparation for storage and storage of spent fuel assemblies and spent additional absorbers accumulated at Chernobyl NPP. Its construction is funded from Nuclear Safety Account of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).

Due to abnormal snow precipitations, all necessary activities on support of the facilities in safe condition are carried out at ChNPP.
On March 25, 2013, the employees of SSE ChNPP Construction Service performed visual and instrumental gauging of snow cover and measurements of snow load on the roofs of buildings and structures located near the Shelter Object. The average snow load does not exceed standard figures of 98 kg/m2.

Works on conditioned Spent Nuclear Fuel (SNF) unloading from ChNPP Unit 1 are underway. As of 20.03.2013 it has been transported 414 of 1325 Spent Fuel Assemblies in ISF-1. Works are carried out in accordance with "Measures, ensuring  process of Nuclear Fuel removal from Chernobyl NPP Units 1,2", put in force the Decree No 51 dated 26.01.2012, in compliance with terms of the Separate Permission 000040/1 -21of the State Nuclear Safety Inspection at Chernobyl NPP.
According to the schedule it is planned to complete this work 30.11.2013.
