Experts from leading scientific institutes of Ukraine - "Kievenergoprojekt" (KIEP), Research Institute of building structures, RI "Stalkonstruktsiya"  named after Shymanowsky,  NPPs Safety Problems Institute started their work at ChNPP on February 20. Consultations with experts of these institutes are underway since February 15. Today the meeting will hold directly at Chernobyl NPP site. It is expected that on February 23 experts will present their assessment of the collapse reasons and recommendations on corrective and stabilization measures.

Since February 13 two commissions on investigation of partial damage of Turbine Hall constructions are working at Chernobyl NPP. One commission was created by Decree of ChNPP General Director, the second – upon requirement of SNRIU. Representatives from the State Nuclear Safety Inspection at SSE "Chornobyl NPP" site are involved in the second commission. Commission's task is to analyze the situation resulted in damage of building constrictions, to provide proposals for consequences elimination and to develop and agree with SNRIU corrective measures for additional drain water and contaminated dust management, which can be generated within the time necessary to restore a damaged roof and side walls of Unit 4 Turbine Hall.
At present the work of the both commissions is close to completion, and on Monday, February 25 Commission's report documents will be submitted to ChNPP Top Managers.

 

Today, on the 20 of February, were resumed the activities on assembling the NSC metal structures and Arch cladding, which are performed by personnel of Joint Venture “Novarka” within free access area. The “Novarka” management informed the SSE ChNPP about this in written form on February 19, 2013.

Currently, the works on removing debris originated due to collapse of a part of wall structure and roof of ChNPP Unit 4 Turbine Hall come to an end. The works are performed by SSE ChNPP personnel efforts.
As the works supervisor Aleksandr Khimach, Deputy Head of the Shelter (New Safe Confinement) Operation Shop, said, the ChNPP specialists developed an individual work program to remove fragments of building structures. On February 19, the large fragments were removed. Gathering and removal of the small parts is now being completed.

Today Deputy Director of JAVYS Company, Slovakia, Miroslav Bozyk visited Chernobyl NPP.

JAVYS Company plays an important role in ensuring the energy safety in Slovakia. The main areas of the Company activities are nuclear installations decommissioning, Spent Nuclear Fuel and Nuclear materials management. During the meeting of JAVYS Company representative with ChNPP management prospects of joint projects implementation in Ukraine and in other countries were discussed.
