It has been two years since the Chornobyl NPP switched to a rotational work schedule. During this time, the plant’s management has been actively working on improving the conditions in the inter-shift rest areas (dormitories) for personnel.
In May 2024, ChNPP began renovation work using its own resources in one of the dormitories where ChNPP personnel stay. The renovation includes reconfiguring rooms into single and double occupancy to prioritize creating comfortable living conditions and reducing the number of people per room. Additionally, the work involves repairing walls and ceilings, including plastering and painting, replacing door units, updating electrical wiring, and planned work on flooring replacement. Improvements are also being made to the condition of showers and common areas.
In early June, during a visit to the Chornobyl exclusion zone, Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine Serhiy VLASENKO and Deputy Head of the State Agency of Ukraine on Exclusion Zone Management Maksym SHEVCHUK inspected the progress of the renovation work. They were pleasantly surprised by the speed and quality of the repairs.
Previously, thanks to ongoing cooperation with the Clean Futures Fund, washing machines, irons, ironing boards, and other necessary household equipment were installed in the dormitories.
All planned and implemented measures will contribute to enhancing the comfort of rest for ChNPP staff.
