In 2024, the office premises of the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant were colourful due to the embroidery patterns on emploees` shirts, blouses and dresses. Stylised shirts, replica shirts, modern shirts and dresses are all evidence that Ukrainian vyshyvanka is a vital phenomenon and popular nationally oriented clothing.
The first time Chornobyl NPP celebrated the Vyshyvanka Day was in 2017 thanks to Oleksandr Novikov's initiative. That time 15 employees came to work in embroidered clothes. The following year, in 2018, more than 60 employees wore embroidered clothes.
У For the first time, students of the Chernivtsi National University officially honoured Ukrainian national clothes in 2006. Teachers immediately joined the flash mob. A year later, the initiative was taken up by other educational establishments in Chernivtsi. In 2010 the holiday spread to other cities and towns of Ukraine and since 2014 it became truly international. Ukrainians who live in Canada, the United States, Italy, Germany, France, Portugal, Romania and Russia wear their vyshyvankas on the third Thursday of May. Although the holiday is not official but it has become international.
