From 21 till 24 August, 2023, online sessions of Technical Meeting on the Spent Fuel and Radioactive Waste Inventory Tool were held. The event was organized by the International Atomic Energy Agency (hereinafter referred to as IAEA).
The main objective of event is to introduce Member States to the IAEA’s new spent fuel and radioactive waste inventory tool. In particular, the event was dedicated to software which enables to manage and to record the data on radioactive waste during its entire life cycle – from generation to disposal.
Chornobyl NPP was represented at this meeting by engineer Oleksandra Stelmakh from Radioactive Material Integrated Management Department.
“For more than a decade IAEA has provided the Member States with software designed for tracking and controlling the radioactive waste including disused sealed radioactive sources. The area for use of the new tool is rather wide; the tool is intended to facilitate the planning, resource optimization, user-friendly monitoring and sharing the data. All data will be unified and harmonized in order to be submitted to the national and international levels,” Oleksandra Stelmakh said.
