Оn March 22, a second training course on “Maintenance of Wälischmiller arm, ZDAZ press and KAISER compressor” started at Chornobyl NPP. The course is being provided for ChNPP staff by experts of the Belgian company ENGIE Solutions, and is financed by the government fund of Belgium.
This training course consists of several training sessions for ChNPP staff covering the issues of operation, maintenance and repair of the above mentioned equipment: i.e. a hydraulic press, a pneumatic compressor, and a manipulator arm.
The first training course was held on the ChNPP site in February. At that time the experts of ENGIE Solutions were focused on the issues of safe maintenance of the equipment (i.e. press and compressor) installed at the Industrial Complex for Solid Radioactive Waste Management (ICSRM) – a facility intended for acceptance, processing and/or disposal of solid radioactive waste generated from ChNPP operation and decommissioning.
The current training course is dealing with the maintenance of the Wälischmiller arm which is also used when managing the solid RAW at theICSRM. The course includes theoretical part and practical exercises on a mock-up simulator.
FYI
The cooperation of Chornobyl NPP with Belgian companies started in 2016 when joint works in the area of quality management, on review and preparation of the Risk Analysis Report for the ChNPP’s «Radioactive Waste Management Programme» were implemented within the framework of the Memorandum on Technical Cooperation with Belgoprocess. At that time ChNPP specialists visited the Belgoprocess site to study the practical experience in implementing the quality management system, and methods of risk management in the field of radioactive waste management. These works were financed by the Government of Belgium. In 2017 the available cooperation programme was additionally funded by the Government of Belgium to train ChNPP staff in the maintenance and repair of BROKK manipulators used at the Solid RAW Processing Plant. TECHNUBEL’s experts carried out the relevant training course at ChNPP site for RAW management specialists in September 2017. That training included both theoretical and practical sessions. Several training courses were also conducted during 2018-2020.
