The exercises were held to meet The Requirements for Site Interaction Plan in Case of Sabotage approved by Order of the State Nuclear Regulatory Committee of Ukraine dated 22 November 2010.
The main task of command team exercises was to evaluate Site Interaction Plan in Case of Sabotage at the SSE Chornobyl NPP ISF-2.
For these exercises Military Unit No.3041 of the National Guard of Ukraine, Division 4 (deployed in the town of Chornobyl) of the Security Service Office in Kyiv City and Kyiv Region, Administrative Department of the State Agency of Ukraine on Exclusion Zone Management, ChNPP Zone Police Division of the National Police Main Office in Kyiv Region, State Fire and Rescue Team No.11 of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Kyiv Region, Zhytomyr Border Guard Attachment of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, a regional coordination group of the Counter Terrorism Centre, the SSE ChNPP Physical Protection Service, Classified Records Department, Spent Nuclear Fuel Management Shop were involved.
The participants of the command team exercise tested and validated to the full extent the efficient performance of communication, timeliness of alert notice for the interaction plan participants, providing under unified leadership the viable management of the forces within interaction plan in the course of the their mission accomplishment.
Upon completion of the exercise Mr. Valentyn Viter, Deputy Director General for Physical Protection Regime, summarised the results and thanked all Interaction Plan participants for their active engagement in the event. He voiced a hope that it would be not necessary to use the gained knowledge and skills in real life but only during such exercises.

Pursuant to Law of Ukraine “On Physical Protection of Nuclear Facilities, Nuclear Materials, Radioactive Waste, and Other Sources of Ionising Radiation”, “Rules of Physical Protection of Nuclear Facilities and Nuclear Materials” (НП 306.8.126-2006),”Basic Requirements for Physical Protection Systems of Nuclear Facilities and Nuclear Materials” (НП 306.8.146-2008),”Requirements for Facility Interaction Plan in Case of Sabotage” (НП 306.8.165-2010) a site interaction plan in case of sabotage is developed and put into effect for every nuclear facility. The effectiveness and relevance of the site interaction plan are tested by command team exercise, special tactical training exercise and battle exercise of the interaction plan participants.
