Starting from July 25th, applications can be submitted to participate in the all-Ukrainian contest “Cycle-Friendly Employer of the Year” - the contest which celebrates the most comfortable offices as regards bicycle infrastructure in different Ukrainian cities. The main objective of the contest is developing city bicycle infrastructure and promoting using bicycles as a transportation to get to offices.
The contestants this year include 9 cities – Kyiv, Kharkiv, Poltava, Kryvyi Rih, Zaporizhzhia, Kherson, Vinnytsia, Odesa, and Slavutych. Each of the cities will have its winner selected individually.
Chornobyl NPP has decided not to miss such an opportunity to participate in the contest, for the company already has its own practical and covered bike parking rack installed last year on the territory of its office in Slavutych.
The local contest coordinator, activist and a ChNPP employee Oleksandr Panchenko says that any company or institution can participate in this contest. However, what is most importantly, companies should have taken some steps or actions to create bicycle infrastructure for their employees so that they could use their bikes as a transportation to get to work.

The idea of creating the new bike rack belongs to cyclists – ChNPP employees, who arrange a social event “Going to Work by Bike” every year, and as part of this event a petition was signed by the participants expressing to the management of the company their wish to have this parking created near Slavutych office. The initiative was supported by the ChNPP management acknowledging that by creating conditions for cyclists, the company makes its contribution to making Slavutych more comfortable for living.
