On February 12, the State Agency for Management of Exclusion Zone Board was held at the Chornobyl NPP, which was aimed at summarization of the activity of all enterprises subordinated to SAUEZM and identification of the directions of activity for the current year. In addition to the Exclusion zone's enterprises managers representatives of the Ministry of Environmental Protection, SNRIU, State Environmental Inspectorate, NNEGC "Energoatom", Atom-trade unions and local communities, bordering EZ were invited to participate in the Board.
As the SAUEZM chairman Vitaliy Petruk stated in his report, 17 enterprises and 4 institutions, employing 6077 persons, are under the sphere of SAUEZM management. In his report, he presented the main achievements in the work, in particular, on approval of the changes to the National Program for Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant decommissioning and the Shelter Object transformation into environmentally safe system by the Verkhovna Rada. Due to renewal of the targeted use of funds from the State Fund for Radioactive Waste Management in December 2018, first phase of construction works at Vector Complex was completed, preparation for NSC and ISF-2operation is close to completion.
At Chornobyl NPP industrial site a pilot project of a solar power plant with a capacity of 1 MW was launched last year. Besides, Belgian company Tractebel developed a Feasibility Study, confirming the possibility of SPP construction with capacity 1.2 GW in the Exclusion zone.
Transformations taking place in the Exclusion zone are constantly communicated to the widest circles of the international and Ukrainian public. So, in 2018, the exposition "Chornobyl: the territory of change" was presented in Vienna (Austria) at the United Nations exhibition grounds, later - at the First Forum of Regions of the Republic of Belarus and Ukraine in Gomel (Republic of Belarus ), as well as within the framework of the exhibition in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. At the end of last year, an international scientific and practical conference "Shelter Object Transformation into Environmentally Safe System: Experience, Problems and Solutions" was held, and proceedings are under preparation for publication.
ChNPP Acting General Director Valeriy Seyda, Acting General Director of the State Enterprise "Radon", Igor Sorochinsky and the Head of the Department for Ensuring the Exclusion zone barrier function, the natural reserve fund, radiation safety , labor protection and civil defense in SAUEZM Mikhailo Baytala reported about the activity of the leading by them enterprises.
Summing up the meeting, the members of the Board approved the Public Report of the Chairman of the State Agency for Management of the Exclusion Zone and Plan of SAUEZM activity for the current year. At the request of the Chairman of the Atom-trade unions Valery Matov, who was supported by the Chairman of ChNPP’s primary trade union organization Maksim Orlov and Chairman of the Council of primary trade union organizations of Chornobyl Unified Atom- trade Union Mykola Teterin, a separate meeting between the trade unions representatives and SAUEZM administration will take place by mid-March 2019, on which a further reforming of the enterprises subordinating to SAUEZM and personnel labor remuneration will be discussed.
