Ceremonial opening of the international exhibition was held in the United Nations Office at Vienna within the framework of the 62nd General Conference of IAEA. The exhibition will run until 21st of September. Both the Chornobyl NPP, the State Agency of Ukraine on Exclusion Zone Management and Ukraine in general for the first time ever take part in such event with their own stand.
The Chornobyl NPP in this event is represented by Vitalii Medvid, Head of International Cooperation and Information Department, and Ihor Lyshylenko, employee of IT and Computing Systems Department.
About 20 countries have presented their expositions at the exhibition. The Ukrainian stand demonstrates the achievements of Ukraine in the Chornobyl disaster’s consequences elimination, the ChNPP decommissioning and the Shelter Object transformation into an environmentally safe system, as well as the positive potential of the Exclusion Zone.
Some exhibit items were completely made by own efforts of ChNPP specialists or with their direct involvement. The dimensional semi-transparent mock-up model of the Shelter Object and New Safe Confinement’s Arch, installed at the multimedia site, enables visitors to find out about the history of creating these facilities, receive additional information and see at first-hand their dimensions.
The augmented reality application “Арка AR” unveils the opportunities of IT-technologies for familiarization with unique technological facilities. The informational leaflet, video film about the ChNPP and other materials supplement the exposition.
For us it is a big responsibility and a great honour to represent Ukraine for the first time at such influential event. More than a half-year of preparatory works has been left behind. Hope that we will be able to decently represent the achievements in the elimination of the ChNPP accident consequences and spark interest of experts and colleagues from other countries, – mentioned Vitalii Medvid.
According to forecasts, this event will be visited by more than 5,000 guests, among who are international experts, employees of the IAEA Secretariat and participants of the General Conference.
The stand operation is organized under the auspices of the Permanent Mission of Ukraine to the International Organizations in Vienna, JV NOVARKA, VINCI, Ноltec International, as well as the European Commission and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
