The first stage of the comprehensive ISF-2 testing with Spent Fuel Assemblies simulators is started on August 1, 2017. The work is carried out in accordance with the Test Program agreed with SNRIU of Ukraine.
This important stage was preceded by a long and complicated work on implementation of construction and assembly and pre-commissioning, individual (acceptance) testing of equipment, comprehensive testing of auxiliary systems, as well as complex testing of one of the most important system for the facility operation - the Transport container handling system.
It is important to note that the beginning of ISF-2 comprehensive tests with SNFA simulators were started in accordance with the Project implementation schedule, this was happened due to the great efforts of the personnel of contracting organizations and SSE ChNPP.
EBRD's Nuclear Safety Department representatives and ISF-2 Project Senior Management visited the construction site at the day of commencement of ISF-2 comprehensive testing. They got acquainted with the project progress and held a meeting devoted to the technical and financial issues of its implementation.
The head of EBRD's Nuclear Safety Department, Mr Vince Novak, who visited the site ten weeks ago, noted that hi was pleasantly impressed by the project's progress.
"I did not even believe that it would be possible within such short period of time to do so much and with such high quality!" - said Mr. Novak expressing words of gratitude to the Managers of ChNPP and Contractors, who accompanied him during the site visit.
This is a reminder that beginning of ISF-2 "hot" tests with the Spent Nuclear Fuel is scheduled for December this year.
