During the period from 16 to 19 March, Chornobyl NPP experts will be exchanging experience with WANO-MC member organizations on maintenance and repair of NPP equipment within the international online event. Invited experts to the event include representatives of operating organizations and nuclear power plants from other regional WANO Centres..
The relevance of sharing experience in the field of maintenance and repair management at NPPs was fully validated in the WANO report “Gap Analysis of Maintenance Staff” published on the first day of the event..
Within 4 days participants of the meeting will be discussing and analyzing problematic issues in developing operating, maintenance & repair and design documentation, gaps in the personnel skills which obviously affect the quality and safety of maintenance and repair works, as well as behavior shortfalls in preparation and performance of works and supervision over M&R works. Furthermore, focus of the discussion will be not only on own staff but also on contractor personnel which has to be involved into certain activities carried out at NPP.
Great attention during discussions is going to be given to the efficiency of staff training, particularly creation of correct behavioral patterns in order to ensure enhanced quality of M&R works.
Chornobyl NPP will be also sharing its positive experience in terms of its own M&R system functioning with a presentation to be delivered by the Deputy Head of the Mechanical Repair Shop Oleksandr Maslii. It should be noted, that this information is exclusive due to the fact that Chronobyl NPP has gained huge practical experience in the field of maintenance and repair exactly during the shutdown and decommissioning stages.
In the follow-up to the online discussions, recommendations will be developed which will be useful for all member organizations and companies of the World Association of Nuclear Operators.
